Human Rights
At Chugai, we declare our respect for human rights in the Chugai Group Code of Conduct (CCC), based on our shared Core Values.
We believe that a culture that respects human rights is essential in driving a highly productive company, where employees can work in comfort, and is a cornerstone for us to be recognised as a trusted member of society. Alongside a responsibility to respect all people in society involved in our business activities, we recognise that our role in the healthcare industry, with deep involvement in the lives and health of people worldwide, means we must promote measures with a greater awareness of respect for human rights.
Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking
Chugai recognises and acknowledges its responsibility and is committed to combating the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in its business activities globally, as well as to ensuring that its supply chains worldwide remain free of such practices.
The UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 is a legislation designed to:
- Combat modern slavery by consolidating previous offences related to trafficking and slavery
- Enhance support and protection for victims
- Provide law enforcement with the necessary tools to inhibit such practices.
A key provision of the Act is a requirement for an annual statement, which mandates certain businesses to publicly disclose the steps they have taken to prevent modern slavery within their operations and supply chains, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Chugai’s Supplier Code of Conduct (SCC)
Chugai’s mission is to add value by creating and delivering innovative products and services for the medical community and human health globally. We strive to provide high-quality, safe products and services while conducting our business ethically and in an environmentally responsible manner.
As globalisation has intensified social and environmental challenges, companies must not only comply with laws but also proactively address these issues to achieve a sustainable society. Achieving sustainability requires the involvement of our entire supply chain and suppliers.
For this purpose, Chugai has implemented a Group Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure that our suppliers, including subcontractors, meet specific behavioural standards.
We require and appreciate our suppliers to respect and adhere to the standards set forth in our Supplier Code of Conduct regarding ethics, labour, health and safety, environment, and associated management systems
